To use PGP to exchange secure emails you have to bring together three programs: GnuPG, Mozilla Thunderbird and Enigmail. If you would like to use PGP via GnuPG, or Thunderbird with Enigmail, please refer to those services’ websites and documentation for information on how to install and use them.

After a second the windows focus should shift to the Extensions/Add-ons window. Left click on "Install Now for Windows" (or whatever the download link is called) in your browser and drag it over the Thunderbird window in the Windows Taskbar (at the bottom of the screen). If you're using a non-Mozilla browser that's not an issue.ĭrag and drop to the extensions/add-ons window: Note: Assuming you're using Firefox to download the Thunderbird extension, you need to right-click (rather than left-click) it to avoid Firefox thinking it's a Firefox extension that you want it to install, letting you try to install, and then complaining that it's incompatible. Press the "Install now" button when it becomes enabled. Thunderbird will display a "Software Installation" window. 
Select the icon that looks like a gear (its actually a list box) near the top of the window and then "Install add-on from file". Navigate to a suitable folder for storing this download. Select "Save link as" from the context menu.Right click on "Install Now for Windows" (or whatever the download link is called).
Browse to the web page that has the download link for the extension.There are two different ways to install a Thunderbird extension.
